Discipline a key as Royals prep for talented Tri-City Americans

CHEK

WATCH: Royals players and head coach Dan Price stress the importance of staying disciplined as they prepare for the very talented Tri-City Americans. Game 1 goes Friday night, 7:05 p.m. at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre.

In Game 7 of their 4-3 victory over the Vancouver Giants, the Royals managed to avoid taking a single penalty in the game. In a series where the Royals were without top forwards Tyler Soy and Tanner Kaspick and top-pairing defenceman Scott Walford, the team believes staying out of the penalty box was perhaps the biggest difference-maker in the series. And special teams could very well once again be a major storyline against the Americans. Tri-City currently owns the WHL’s top-ranked power play in the playoffs (53.8 per cent) and used it to sweep the Kelowna Rockets in Round 1.
