Victoria Police released this image of the vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run on Nov. 16, 2023.

Victoria Police says the driver who hit a cyclist and then left the scene has turned themself in.

Around 9:20 a.m. on Nov. 16, a cyclist was hit by the driver of a Mini Cooper near the intersection of Douglas and Alpha streets.

The driver was last seen travelling westbound in the 600-block of Alpha Street and was captured on CCTV footage leaving the area.

The cyclist was brought to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

After VicPD put a callout on Dec. 21, the next day the police agency said the driver had come forward and turned themself in to investigators.

VicPD tells CHEK News that releasing information into investigations can often take some time to allow investigators to gather initial evidence and explore other options, which is why the call out for this incident came over a month after the crash occurred.
