Mounties in the Comox Valley are searching for witnesses to a stabbing on Saturday afternoon.

Comox Valley RCMP say a 32-year-old man was stabbed on Dunsmuir Avenue in Cumberland at around 12 p.m.

Witnesses provided first aid to the victim, who was unable to provide officers on scene with detailed information about the incident, police say.

As a result, Comox Valley RCMP are requesting residents and businesses in the area to review security footage and any witnesses to come forward and provide them information about the incident, which they believe was not random.

“The victim was unable to provide investigators with very much information before he was taken by emergency health services to receive medical attention. Although this investigation is in the very early stages, investigators do not believe this incident was random,” said Const. Monika Terragni, Comox Valley RCMP media relations officer.

The 32-year-old victim was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
