Crews working to extinguish brush fire between Colwood and Sooke

Fire crews are working to extinguish a small brush fire in Veitch Creek, between Sooke and Colwood.

The Metchosin Fire Department says the fire is well under control, and that the CRD, B.C. Forestry Service and Langford fire crews are on the scene.

The B.C. Wildfire Service says the fire is estimated at 0.01 hectares, and is suspected to be human-caused.

It was discovered Saturday.

Another 0.01 hectare fire is also burning just southwest of Nanaimo off Nanaimo Lakes Road, according to the B.C. Wildfire Service.
