Fire crews from Shawnigan Lake, Malahat and Mill Bay have put out a garbage truck fire at Malahat Gas.

The fire was reported at around 12 p.m. The truck was between the gas station and a home. There is some damage to the home due to heat but not flames. The flames did not spread to the gas station.

Emergency crews are still on scene and are cleaning up the aftermath of the fire.

The Trans-Canada Highway was open during the fire but drivers did experience some traffic delays.
