Central Saanich Fire
Crews from Central Saanich and Sidney responded to a fire at Heritage Acres on Lochside Drive Wednesday, March 17, 2021.
A fire at a heritage farm in Central Saanich was handled in quick order by crews from Central Saanich and Sidney.
A workshop at Heritage Acres, a 29-acre historical site on Lochside Drive, could be seen with flames shooting from the roof accompanied by thick, black smoke.
According to firefighters, the fire was traced back to a wood stove chimney that ignited the ceiling.
No historical artifacts were lost and there were no injuries, they said.
At around 1 p.m., the fire appeared to be extinguished.
Heritage Acres has remained closed during the pandemic but had said it hoped to open back up at some point in 2021.
