Firefighters put water on a small grass fire near Bay and Bridge streets.
Victoria firefighters quickly extinguished a small grass fire near Bridge and Bay streets Friday afternoon.
The fire was reported just after 12 p.m.
Capt. Grant Pepper with Victoria Fire Department when firefighters arrived, the fire was smouldering. The fire was put out within minutes.
“Everything’s tinder-dry around here so it doesn’t take much to get something going,” Pepper said.
Pepper said a witness reported a man was lighting a fire and when she went to take a photo, he packed up his stuff and left.
The incident has been reported to police.
