A brush fire that threatened multiple townhouses was quickly extinguished by crews in Langford Sunday.

The Langford Fire Department says they responded around 2 p.m. and quickly called in mutual aid from Colwood and View Royal.

It was burning near the complex, on the 2900-block of Phipps Road near the Langford Walmart.

Multiple fire crews are still on the scene, and say the flames stopped just metres away from one of the structures.

Witnesses say smoke was pouring out of the complex, and multiple residents evacuated as a precaution.

More to come.
