Roads around the former Ricky’s are reopening after crews hit a gas line while working on rebuilding the restaurant.

Ricky’s All Day Grill was damaged in an arson on June 16 and work has begun to rebuild it.

Fortis BC says while crews were working a gas line was hit and damaged, resulting in a gas leak.

While the repair was underway, Burnside between Douglas and Manchester Road, and two lanes of traffic on Douglas Street were closed. Shortly before 2:30 p.m., Burnside Road had reopened and Douglas was set to reopen when crews complete the repairs.

Fortis says crews are working as quickly and as safely as possible to repair the main and reopen roads, but there is not yet a timeline for when that will be done.
