If you live in the Capital Regional District, get ready to fork out more money.

Wednesday the CRD Board passed a provisional budget containing around a 6 per cent increase in operational spending.

That’s about a $50 increase per person annually.

The CRD says the increase is for employee contracts, the cost of living, and for the region’s sewage treatment plant.

“So this budget, while of course 6 per cent is something a lot of people will say is a lot of many, for the average person that’s about a dollar a week, and for those in the core that includes sewage treatment,” said Colin Plant, CRD Chair.

The numbers still need to be finalized before they’re locked in, in March.
