Island Health declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Veterans Memorial Lodge long-term care home in Saanich on Sunday afternoon.

There is an outbreak of COVID-19 at a long-term care facility in Saanich.

Island Health declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Veterans Memorial Lodge long-term care home in Saanich on Sunday afternoon.

The health authority says one staff member has tested positive for COVID-19 to date and that the outbreak is limited to just one unit within the facility.

“The staff member who tested positive is self-isolating at home,” Island Health said in a statement.

Island Health says communication with the facility’s residents, their families, and staff is underway and that enhanced control measures have been put in place.

Veterans Memorial Lodge, a non-profit care home operated by Broadmead Care, is located at 4579 Chatterton Way in Saanich.
