COVID-19 exposures reported at two Cowichan Valley schools

Two schools in the Cowichan Valley recently experienced COVID-19 exposure events.

According to a notice on Island Health’s website, Crofton Elementary School experienced exposure events on Jan. 25 and 27.

Island Health also says Chemainus Secondary School experienced COVID-19 exposure events on Jan. 25, 26, 27, and 28.

Both schools have been added to Island Health’s exposure list.

It’s the second time this month that Chemainus Secondary School has experienced an exposure event, the last time being on Jan. 4.

An exposure event is defined by Island Health as a single person with lab-confirmed COVID-19 infection who attended school during their infectious period.

A number of Vancouver Island schools, including Bayview Elementary School, Lake Cowichan Secondary School, Shawnigan Lake School, École Ballenas Secondary School in Parksville and École Macaulay Elementary School in Esquimalt have recently experienced exposure events.
