Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools issued an advisory notice on social media Sunday morning stating that Frank J. Ney Elementary experienced a COVID-19 exposure on Nov. 12.

The school district says the individual is at home isolating and that Island Health has completed contact tracing.

Frank J. Ney Elementary becomes the third school in Nanaimo to report a COVID-19 exposure. Dover Bay Secondary and John Barsby Secondary both reported exposure events last week, however, those have been reclassified by Island Health as clusters.

Clusters are defined by Island Health as exposure events involving two or more individuals with “lab-confirmed infections” of COVID-19.

An exposure is defined by Island Health as one person with a “lab-confirmed” infection who attended school while infectious.

Frank J. Ney Elementary is located at 5295 Williamson Rd.
