Almost one month after failing to appear in court for charges relating to drug trafficking, a Courtenay man has been arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Jonathan Erin Clifford, 41, had charges approved against him in November 2023 for a Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU-BC) investigation into an alleged drug trafficking ring with ties to the Hells Angels.

He was one of six Vancouver Island residents arrested in the investigation.

Clifford was charged with one count each of participating in the activities of a criminal organization and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

He was scheduled to appear in court for these charges on Feb. 1, but failed to appear. As a result, a warrant was issued for his arrest and the CFSEU-BC issued a news release about the warrant on Feb. 21.

Now, CFSEU-BC says he has been arrested on the warrant, and released while awaiting the judicial process.
