Calls for more people to buy local have been around long before the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

And those calls have become even greater as many businesses, particularly smaller businesses struggle, amid the pandemic.

However, it seems that a number of Vancouver Island residents have answered the call and are buying local, at least when it comes to what you are putting on your dinner table.

On this episode of Conversations in a Crisis, Joe Perkins speaks to Terry Michell, owner of Michell’s farm, and Craig Cavin, director of Country Grocer, about just how much people are buying local amid the pandemic.

The segment “Conversations in a Crisis” is done in partnership with Douglas Magazine.
