The outcome could have been much worse for a flagger in Campbell River.
According to Campbell River RCMP, a flagger working at a road construction site on Island Highway South was struck by a vehicle at approximately 2:30 p.m. April 21.
Police say the flagger received minor injuries as a result of the incident and is expected to make a full recovery.
Campbell River RCMP issued the driver a ticket with multiple infractions exceeding the amount of $900.
“It’s really simple. Speed limits in construction zones are there to protect workers safety. As a driver, you are responsible for knowing speed limits and where you are in space,” said Campbell River RCMP Const. Maury Tyre in a press release.
Police say they will be monitoring construction zones, watching for motorists who ignore flaggers and speed.
