After a lengthy break and enter investigation, Comox Valley RCMP says a 31-year-old man faces more than 25 criminal charges.

Police say early in the year, officers looked into increased cases of break and enters in the Comox Valley and identified a suspect, who was arrested and stolen property was recovered.

The investigation after Michael Leighton’s arrest led to more charges and recovered stolen property.

Investigators were able to easily identify some of the property since victims provided detailed descriptions with serial numbers during their initial report.

RCMP says Leighton remains in custody.

The Comox Valley man faces 27 charges including break and enter, possession of stolen property, possession of an identification document, mischief under $5000, possession of break and enter tools, trafficking in property obtained by crime, possession of identification information, and possession of a controlled substance.
