Comox Valley RV is one of the businesses across North America that recicved a bomb threat followed by demands for money

Comox Valley RV is one of the businesses across North America that received a bomb threat followed by demands for money Thursday.

The B.C RCMP has confirmed Comox Valley RV and other businesses across the province today are receiving bomb threats followed by demands for money.

Officers responded around 10 a.m. to 1608 Ryan Road in Comox and say there is no threat to the public at the location, and that the incident is under investigation.

A spokesperson from the RCMP’s south-east district says multiple businesses across B.C. have received similar threats through email.

Those in the province join others across North America receiving the threats and demands, resulting in evacuations and disruptions.

Some agencies are calling the threats a hoax.

“Law enforcement across B.C. are currently working to determine the source and legitimacy of these threats and are conducting a risk assessment,” said south-east district spokesperson Cpl. Dan Moskaluk.

“Public safety being our top priority we will engage all our specialized units as necessary and have done so in a variety of situations.”

Anyone with information on the incidents, or who are also receiving similar threats, is asked to contact their local police.
