After taking two years off due to the pandemic, the Eats and Beats event is returning to the Esquimalt Lagoon.

The free event will take place on July 30, and will feature live music, a food truck festival, a craft beer garden, a street market, a climbing wall, paddling and cycling.

The music lineup has not yet been announced, but some of the food trucks already announced include Deadbeetz Food Truck, Mama Rosie’s Food Truck, L’Authentique Poutine and Burgers, Greek on the Street, Kattia’s Kitchen, and the Victoria Beer Society will be providing beachside beer service.

Some of the activities include “oversized beach pong,” a climbing wall and visits from local mascots including Harvey the Harbourcat, Rocky from the Shamrocks and Marty the Marmot.

Ocean Boulevard will be closed to vehicle traffic, and Colwood will be providing a shuttle from the Park and Ride at Island Highway and Ocean Boulevard.

Additionally, the city will be providing bike racks so people biking to the event will have a place to lock up.

The previous Eats and Beats event took place on July 20, 2019 and Colwood says on its website that over 8,000 people attended.
