Environment Canada is warning that minor coastal flooding is possible this week along low-lying shorelines adjacent to the Strait of Georgia.

The weather agency, in a post on X (formerly Twitter) Sunday afternoon, says flooding is possible during high tide on Monday and Tuesday late in the morning.

“Potential impacts include seawater across low-lying roadways and trails,” Environment Canada said in the post.

It says municipalities on Vancouver Island and B.C.’s mainland could see flooding.

For the Island, in particular, the Strait runs parallel to the eastern sections from Greater Victoria to Campbell River. Several East Island municipalities, including Victoria, Duncan, Nanaimo, Comox and Campbell River, will see rain this week, according to Environment Canada forecasts.

The B.C. government has information on preparing for flooding on its website, while ICBC has tips on driving on flooded roads online here. The latter says drivers on a flooded road should stop driving and turn around.
