A file photo of a discarded needle
The City of Victoria has confirmed one of its employees was pricked by a discarded needle on Thursday.
The incident happened in the city’s Ship Point Area, near Wharf Street.
This is the fourth time in 2020 that a city worker has been pricked by a needle. Last year’s total number was three.
The city says staff are fully trained to remove dangerous items like needles and broken glass and are supplied with the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) to do so.
The city said work procedures are reviewed after any incident to determine if other safety measures are needed.
