Due to safety concerns and more bad weather The City of Nanaimo will continue to keep trails and parks are closed Saturday.

The city says another windstorm is making its way to the Island and unsafe conditions remain in many parks and trails that are heavily wooded.

Park staff are still assessing conditions and cleaning up from Thursday’s severe windstorm.

Updates will be provided from the city when more details become available.

“Winds are expected to pick up again today and there are unstable trees in and around many of the City’s parks and trails. For the safety of the public, we are keeping parks and trails closed until further notice,” said Al Britton, Nanaimo’s Manager of Parks Operations in a statement.
