Canadian soccer superstar Christine Sinclair played her penultimate international game in Langford on Friday night, helping lead Team Canada to a decisive victory against Australia.
Starlight Stadium was jam-packed as the 10th-ranked Canadians beat the 11th-ranked Australians in a definitive 5-0 victory.
With a career spanning more than two decades, Sinclair is the world’s all-time leading scorer with 190 goals.
The 40-year-old from Burnaby, B.C., was honoured before the game, with her two nieces presenting her with a commemorative jersey.

Sinclair’s final game will be played on Tuesday, Dec. 5, in Vancouver.
The 41,000-plus seats at B.C. Place Stadium are expected to be packed for the game.
The stadium will also be renamed Christine Sinclair Place for the night, and on Friday B.C. Tourism Minister Lana Popham announced that Dec. 12 had been proclaimed “Christine Sinclair Day” in British Columbia.
The province’s tourism minister isn’t the only one celebrating Sinclair.
Ryan Reynolds also congratulated Sinclair on her brilliant career and thanked her for inspiring young athletes in Canada and across the world.
