The Chinese Embassy in Ottawa says it’s “utterly dissatisfied” with Canada’s decision to proceed with an extradition case against Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou

The arrest of Meng in Vancouver’s airport in December sparked tensions with China and the embassy calls her case a “political persecution” of a Chinese high-tech enterprise.

Allegations levelled against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and top officials of interfering in the prosecution of SNC-Lavalin have also caught the attention of the Chinese government.

The U.S. Department of Justice has laid out 13 criminal counts of conspiracy, fraud and obstruction against Huawei and Meng, and her case returns to B.C. Supreme Court on Wednesday.
