CHEK Upside: Victoria salon bringing hair care to your door

WatchDuring quarantine, it can be hard to find some services, especially when it comes to hair. One Victoria couple is helping Islanders avoid a really bad hair day.

Phillip and Natalie Ferreira are helping their clients avoid a do-it-yourself hair disaster during the COVID-19 pandemic one delivery at a time.

The couple owns the Natural Hair Salon downtown Victoria, which is temporarily closed to maintain social distancing. But Phillip and Natalie have found a way to keep their clients and new customers looking fresh during the quarantine.

They’ve started to deliver DIY hare care kits to help avoid any hair related nightmares. Those situations are not something that Phillip wants to work on after the fact.

“It’s just really about putting the kits together so they can just have fun with them at home, and when the salon opens up we’re not going to have a lot of crazy bad hair that we got to fix. And that’s going to be a nightmare for me,” Phillip said.

The duo have also launched a program called Haircuts for Nurses, which aims to give back to front line healthcare workers, and Natalie says it’s all part of giving back.

“Our clients are helping us by buying haircuts for nurses for 35 dollars. We’re matching that and after this is all over we want to host as many nurses as possible in our salon for free haircuts, to give them a thinks and kind of a big hug,” Natalie said.

While the salon might be closed for now, Phillip and Natalie’s kits are available for pick up and drop off locally, as well as shipment around Canada. Customers can even book their own online consultation.
