WatchAidan Henry and Brink Events are launching a website dedicated to bringing in donations for local nonprofits and charities.

Brink Events, a Victoria-based company, is rolling out a new website to help Vancouver Island non-profits and charities who are taking a financial hit due to COVID-19.

Aidan Henry and his team have come together to produce Gala Board, a website that acts as a central hub for non-profits and charities to post their fundraising event status and ways that people can donate to their causes.

“We thought let’s put together this hub where people can come and quickly and easily see all the charities who had cancelled events, how much they were looking to raise from these events and then there’s a quick donate now button,” says Henry from his Victoria office.

The website itself has the charities and non-profits listed, as well as their fundraising events, how much they’re looking to raise, icons that give information on each organization and a donate button. Henry hopes that the new centralized system will streamline the donation process, and allow charities to claw back some of the money they’ve lost.

“We’re hoping that we can help these hit, if not the target that they wanted to hit with their event, something close to that. But worst-case scenario even if they don’t hit that, this is money that they probably wouldn’t have raised otherwise that goes to a good cause at a time when it’s really needed,” says Henry.

Currently, the site includes organizations that work with Brink Events, but Brink plans to expand the list of organizations based on demand for the site. The project will run for a few weeks to gauge its success. The donation totals will be updated daily.
