Metchosin’s Brad Bakuska was looking for a way to cure his pandemic boredom.

He found it by creating driftwood Santa carvings.

Each Santa carving exhibits its own unique features, all captured by the semi-retired geologist’s creative eye.

“For this Christmas, I carved up a bunch to see how well they’re received,” says Bakuska. “I’m working on my last batch before Christmas, about 10 or 12 of them and then I’ll be waiting for next season.”

Next year Bakuska hopes to sell his creations at the Metchosin Farmer’s Market. If you want a Santa for Christmas this year, send Bakuska an email at [email protected].
