WatchMetchosin's Rory Smith scored his second Canada 200 win after a race long battle with defending champion Brandon Carlson.

In his Metchosin garage, Rory Smith wrenches on his car after the weekend’s races.

This past Sunday was a big day for the third-generation driver, with Smith beating 25 other racers to the checkered flag to win his second Canada 200 at Westshore Motorsports Park.

“When you win one it’s always special but two is better and it’s always nice to get one before the track inevitably goes away,” says Smith.

A back and forth battle throughout the event with defending champion Brandon Carlson kept Smith on his toes.

“It feel into our hands there and with Brandon behind me I was just trying to save tires the best we could and he knows how to get around Westshore really well,” says Smith.

“I guess we had enough left at the end so it worked out,” adds Smith.

This win was even more special than the first as Smith dedicated the victory to his late grandmother.

“It definitely was, her and her best friend Angie there we lost them both and it was a bad year for racing in that sense,” says Smith.

As for how he will celebrate winning the biggest race of the year, Smith plans to drive to Black Creek’s Saratoga Speedway this Friday and Saturday to keep his winning streak alive and the momentum rolling into next season.

“You know what a great season we had, lots of luck on our side and hopefully we continue that next year,” says Smith.
