At the Victoria Brain Injury Society, the final stages of planning are underway for a unique fundraiser.

VBIS is a non-profit organization that helps adults living with acquired brain injuries.

“Our mandate is to provide education, support and advocacy for brain injury survivors and their families,” says executive director Pam Prewett. “So, fundraisers really help us to do that work.”

Enter the Toss the Boss event. Teams from across the Island can nominate their boss to be tossed off of WildPlay’s bungee jumping platform if they can raise $500 for the Victoria and Nanaimo Brain Injury Societies.

“If you raise $750, you get the opportunity to soak your boss with Super Soakers as he’s going down and if you raise $1000 your boss will go right into the river and be totally dunked,” says Prewett.

It’s an event that has company heads all over the Island a little nervous to take the plunge.

“I’m dating myself now, 30 years ago was the last time I did it [bungee jumped], so it’s going to feel like the first time again I think,” says Colliers Victoria managing director Tyler Dolan.

“I’ve actually been nominated by the team here at the Victoria Brain Injury Society and I got to tell you I am not a fan of heights,” smiles Prewett.

“So, I might chicken out and if I chicken out there might be some public shaming and I’ll have to double whatever the team here has raised,” she adds.

The first annual Toss the Boss Vancouver Island kicks off this Friday.
