For the first time ever, CHEK will be livestreaming the start of the Royal Victoria Yacht Club’s “Swiftsure” International Yacht Race, which takes place this weekend.

Now in its 79th running of the race, the event will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 25 at Clover Point.

This year, roughly 120 yachts from across the globe will take to the waters south and west of Victoria, with the longest route travelling more than 255 kilometres.

CHEK’s Tess van Straaten will help kick off the race starting at 9:55 a.m., providing an hour of live coverage of the race alongside the Royal Victoria Yacht Club’s Dale Gann.

The livestream, and replay can be found below, as well as on the CHEK Media YouTube account, and on the CHEK+ app:

The finish line of the race is at the entrance to Victoria Harbour, where yachts are expected to arrive late Saturday evening.

Anyone interested in keeping up with sailors can follow the race on the Kwindoo website, which uses GPS tracking software, or on the Swiftsure Facebook page.
