Charges laid after truck crushes unmarked police cars south of Nanaimo

Charges have been laid against two people involved in a dangerous driving incident that led to two unmarked police cars being crushed Wednesday.

32-year-old Majore Jackson and 47-year-old Andrew Bellwood, both of Nanaimo, were held in custody after being arrested.

The pair were taken into custody after the alleged stolen pickup they were in drove over the hood of one of the unmarked cars and crashed into the other on Roberts Road around 8:30 a.m.

The two officers involved had minor injuries.

Jackson is charged with assault with a weapon using a Dodge three-quarter ton pick-up truck, dangerous driving, two counts of possession of stolen property and obstruction. Bellwood is charged with two counts of obstruction and possession of stolen property.

Jackson and Bellwood are both appearing in provincial court in Nanaimo Thursday.
