
Central Saanich police say a motorcycle rider received a$368 fine after being seen travelling 144 kilometres an hour on the Pat Bay Highway.
According to Central Saanich police, the motorcycle was stopped just after 10 p.m. on Aug. 19 in the 6400-block of Highway 17. Police said the rider was in an 80 km/h zone, meaning they were travelling more than 60 km/h above the posted speed limit
The motorcycle was also impounded for seven days.

Earlier this week, a driver in the West Shore received the same excessive speeding fine for going 52 kilometres over the speed limit on Rocky Point Road. Their vehicle was also impounded for seven days.
Our Municipal Traffic Unit pulled over a vehicle going 52km OVER the speed limit on Rocky Point Rd this weekend. Yes, you read that right, 52 km OVER! Driver issued excessive speeding ticket $368, and vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
