A Central Saanich man suspected of having committed several child sex-related offences faces three new charges.
Court records show that 30-year-old Johnathon Lee Robichaud now stands accused of making or publishing child pornography, possessing child pornography, and accessing child pornography.
Robichaud was first arrested in mid-September and charged with one count of sexual interference, two counts of invitation to sexual touching and one count of making sexually explicit material available to a child.
At the time, Saanich Police said that in July 2018, a parent reported to them that her two sons, both under the age of 10, may be victims of sexual offences. Detectives from the Family Protection Unit began an investigation. Robichaud, who had been employed as the family’s nanny, was identified as a suspect.
Saanich Police worked with both Central Saanich Police and Victoria Police while looking for evidence. Saanich Police said they found evidence to support the allegations.
Police said they also uncovered a significant amount of images and videos containing sexually explicit material involving children.
Detectives said at the time that they believed there may be more potential child victims who had not come forward.
According to police, Robichaud has lived in the Greater Victoria area for a significant amount of time and has been employed at or volunteered with youth groups, church groups, child care and before/after school programs. He also advertised on nanny websites and local classified ad sites.
Robichaud now faces a total of 7 charges.
He is due back in court on October 17th.
