UPDATE: Driver suffers minor injuries after car crashes into Saanich bus shelter

A driver has been taken to hospital with minor injuries after a two-vehicle collision sent a car into a bus shelter in Saanich on Thursday evening.

Saanich Police say it happened around 5:40 p.m. at Quadra and Inverness.

A car travelling on Quadra struck a vehicle at the intersection, sending it up onto the sidewalk and into the bus shelter.

“We are very fortunate here, there was only one minor injury to the driver of the vehicle into the bus stop, there was no pedestrians at the bus stop at the time, so no other injuries,” said Const. Paul Egli of Saanich Police.

“He’s been taken to hospital for assessment but its believed he’s going to be okay.”

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
