The Old Island Highway is now open to single-lane alternating traffic after a car crash Wednesday morning.
At around 9:30 a.m., Comox Valley RCMP say a single car crashed and caused hydro poles to collapse on the road. According to Cst. Monika Terragni, the driver was swerving to avoid a deer and was not injured.
The road reopened to single lane alternating traffic at around 3:20 p.m.
The crash knocked out power to almost 2,500 customers in the area. As of 1:15 p.m., power was out to 128 customers.
Crews have partially restored customers in #BuckleyBay. They're working to restore all remaining customers by 3:00 p.m. Repairs are blocking the Old Island Hwy and we recommend taking an alternate route until repairs are complete: https://t.co/tbvs1ZWfCd pic.twitter.com/BDhOMVDeEd
