Greater Victoria residents are being encouraged to donate their blood during the Thanksgiving holiday.
Canadian Blood Services says with the busy holiday season ahead and a constant need for donated blood now is a good time to book an appointment.
As a result, CBS is holding donation events on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at their donation centre on 3449 Saanich Rd., in Saanich.
“Donations often decrease during long weekends. Travel and family activities make it challenging for people to find time to donate but the demand for blood never stops,” CBS said in a press release.
Appointments are available between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Thursday (Oct. 7), 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 8) and between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 9).
“Donors who make an appointment are encouraged to keep it as missed or cancelled appointments are difficult to fill,” CBS said in its release.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the Canadian Blood Services says they can only accept booked appointments at this time and walk-ins will not be permitted.
