Campbell River RCMP say this boat was stolen from the front yard of a home in the 100-block of South Murphy Street on Oct. 3.

Mounties on Vancouver Island are on the hunt for a stolen aluminum boat.

According to a Campbell River RCMP press release, a 14-foot Lund aluminum boat that was sitting on a trailer was stolen from the front yard of a home in the 100-block of South Murphy Street on Oct. 3.

Police say the vessel had a 25 HP Yamaha tiller engine and was sitting on an EZ Loader brand boat trailer.

“This event is, unfortunately, a stark reminder to secure vessels and trailers in yards with wheel boots and heavy-duty trailer hitch locks,” Campbell River RCMP media spokesperson, Maury Tyre, said in a press release. “Nothing is perfect, unfortunately, but the heavier the locks and types of locks used act as a deterrent to theft.”

The boat has the word “Lund” written in big letters on the side and is displaying registration number BC 429156.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the vessel, engine, or trailer is asked to contact the Campbell River RCMP at 250-286-6221.
