A collision involving a semi-truck and another vehicle sent four people to hospital and closed a part of Highway 19 at Ware Road in Lantzville Wednesday.
Southbound traffic on Highway 19 was being rerouted westbound onto Superior Road for hours following the crash.

Const. Gary O’Brien, media relations officer with Nanaimo RCMP, said a four-door vehicle was stopped at the Ware Road and Highway 19 intersection when it was struck from behind by a semi-truck.
A female passenger who was in a rear seat had to be extricated. She was airlifted in serious but stable condition in Victoria. O’Brien said her parents, who were in the front, sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital by ground ambulance for observation.
The driver of the semi-truck also had to be extricated after the truck flipped in the ditch. The driver was taken to hospital by ground ambulance in stable condition.
The vehicle sustained significant damage.
BC Emergency Health Services confirmed they were called at 10:48 a.m. for a rollover crash on Highway 19 near Ware Road. The highway has been closed for more than six hours. Traffic reconstructionists were at scene and the northbound lanes were briefly closed while a drone was used.
