A boy was arrested and police are investigating after a girl was assaulted in various locations on Salt Spring Island earlier this week.
The Salt Spring Island RCMP say they were called to a report of a female youth being attacked by a male youth around noon on Tuesday.
Mounties were told that a boy was “punching and slapping” the girl, and that the assault took place in various locations around the Ganges area, including in Rotary Park, the intersection of Lower Ganges and Hereford Avenue and at United Church Meadow Park.
The youth was eventually stopped and arrested behind the Island Savings credit union on McPhillips Avenue, according to RCMP.
Mounties say the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information or surveillance video of the incident is asked to call the Salt Spring RCMP at 250-537-5555.
