Boil water advisory issued for Saltpsring community

Residents living on Saltspring Island in the Highland-Fernwood water service area, are being warned their water quality may be compromised.

The Highland-Fernwood water service area of Saltspring Island, the region under a boil water advisory.

Officials say a recent water main broke, and subsequent repairs may have put water quality at risk in the system.

“As a precaution, the Boil Water Advisory will be in effect until flushing and water samples indicate the water quality no longer poses a risk to public health,” said the CRD Integrated Water Services in a statement.

Residents of the are being told to boil their drinking water vigorously for one minute, until further notice.
