The Capital Regional District issued a boil water advisory Wednesday for the Port Renfrew Water Service Area

Port Renfrew residents are being urged to boil their drinking water.

The Capital Regional District issued a boil water advisory Wednesday for the Port Renfrew Water Service Area and is instructing residents to boil household tap water “vigorously” for one minute before use.

“Boil all tap water used for drinking, preparing food, beverages, ice cubes, washing fruits and vegetables, or brushing teeth. As an alternative, use bottled water for some of these purposes,” the CRD said in a notice issued Wednesday.

The CRD says the boil water advisory will remain in place indefinitely and will only be removed when Island Health is satisfied that the drinking water is safe once again.
