A boil water advisory is in effect for a small water service area on Saturna Island.

The CRD Integrated Water Services, in consultation with Island Health, issued the advisory for the Lyall Harbour/Boot Cove Water System on Tuesday.

The decision was made due to an increase in raw water turbidity levels in the Money Lake Reservoir.

The CRD says it may be compromising the effectiveness of the disinfection equipment.

It advises households in the water service area that tap water may be disinfected by bringing it to a vigorous boil for one-minute.

The advisory will be removed when Island Health is satisfied that the drinking water no longer poses a health concern.
