A man has been hit with a $230 fine after police in Central Saanich caught him violating the province’s COVID-19 rules.
According to the Central Saanich Police Department, an officer was inside an unidentified local business on Nov. 28 and noticed a man not wearing a face covering.
The man was also ignoring directional signage, standing close to other patrons, and became “belligerent” when told to put on a mask, the department said.
As a result, the officer decided to issue the man a $230 ticket for violating the province’s COVID-19 Related Measures Act, known as CRMA.
The news comes hours after VicPD announced that officers issued tickets ranging from $230 to $2,300 to two people who were caught violating COVID-19 rules.
