BC Transit offering free service on election day in some Island communities

BC Transit is teaming up with some local Island communities to offer free service on election day Monday, October 21.

The hope is free transit will make it easier for voters to get to the polls and cast their ballots.

On Vancouver Island and the Gulf Island, free service will be offered in the following areas:

 Cowichan Valley – including handyDART but does not apply to commuter routes (44
Victoria/Duncan, 66 Duncan Commuter, and 99 Shawnigan Lake Commuter)
 Comox Valley – including handyDART
 Regional District of Nanaimo – available all day on all routes
 Port Alberni – including handyDART
 Salt Spring Island – available all day on all routes
