B.C. Transit's first-ever Pride bus is about to launch in Victoria.

Transit-goers can now “ride with pride” in Victoria.

BC Transit has designed and created its first-ever Pride bus in B.C.’s capital, and it’s ready to roll on various routes in the regional transit system this June through July.

“Pride is an important opportunity to recognize the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and support equity for all community members who are gender, sexuality and/or relationship diverse,” said BC Transit in a statement Wednesday.

“BC Transit believes in equity, diversity and inclusion…”

The provincial crown corporation says the bus was designed by its graphic design team following consideration and consultation with its internal Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) forum.

According to BC Transit, the forum is “a diverse and cross-functional group of employees that comes together to discuss matters related to IDEA…”

It says Lamar Adverting provided its services to wrap the bus, which is set to take part in the upcoming Victoria Pride Parade sporting its bright, vibrant colours.

The 2023 parade, scheduled for July 9 at 11 a.m., starts at Douglas and Fisgard streets and runs through the city’s downtown, and will be broadcast live on CHEK and Facebook, YouTube and CHEK+ with hosts Tess van Straaten and Gouda Gabour.
