UPDATE: BC Hydro reports power has been restored to an estimated 2135 customers in Courtenay and Qualicum Beach in an area from south of Lacon Road and North-East-West of Island Highway.
BC Hydro crews are working Tuesday night to restore power to an estimated 2900 customers in Courtenay and on Denman and Hornby Islands.
The largest outage is on Denman Island and Hornby Island where 1758 customers have been without power since just before 7 p.m.
BC Hydro isn’t providing any estimates about how long it will take to repair.
