There is some big news for BC Ferries passengers.
The company announced Monday that debit payments will soon be accepted as a form of payment at vehicle and foot passenger ticketing booths.
Tap-and-pay debit card and credit card readers will be installed, BC Ferries said. The new PIN pads are expected to be in place at the Metro Vancouver-Vancouver Island terminals at the end of March 2020, after it is installed at the smaller terminals.
“This will help speed the ticketing process for customers with transactions under the $100 tap limit,” the company said in a statement.
“BC Ferries waited to install debit to ensure tap capability was available to help process transactions.”
In October 2018, BC Ferries started a debit trial for foot passengers and on-board purchases.
