High winds have resulted in the cancellation of dozens of scheduled sailings between Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland due to high winds.

BC Ferries announced that they have cancelled multiple sailings between the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island on Sunday because of adverse weather conditions. The affected routes include Swartz Bay—Tsawwassen, Duke Point—Tsawwassen, and Little River—Powell River.

“The safety of our passengers and crew is of primary importance to us. We don’t take the decision to cancel sailings lightly, as we know customers rely on us to get to their destinations. We will resume service as soon as it is safe to do so,” BC Ferries said in a statement posted on their website.

Sailings, however, on the Departure Bay—Horseshoe Bay route continue to operate.
