BC Ferries is advising you to reserve a spot early with the busy holiday season coming for travel between Vancouver Island and Vancouver.
The corporation said Tuesday 130 extra sailings are being added to the Swartz Bay-Tsawwassen route between Dec. 20 and Jan. 1.
There will be more than 30 extra sailings connecting Departure Bay in Nanaimo and Horseshoe Bay over that time.
Added sailings for Swartz Bay-Tsawwassen route travellers include a 6 a.m. departure on Dec. 26 and 27, a 10 p.m. from Tsawwassen Dec. 21 and 28 and a 10 p.m. leaving Victoria Dec. 23, 26 and 27.
BC Ferries says there will also be a midnight sailing from Tsawwassen on both Boxing Day and Dec. 27.
Dec. 23 is expected to be the busiest day of travel for BC Ferries prior to Christmas Day.
High traffic is advised for Dec. 26 to Dec. 28 after Christmas, with the busiest day anticipated to be the 27th.
BC Ferries advises travellers to book ahead in advance with reservations, arrive early for your sailing and consider being dropped off at ferry terminals with parking lots expected to fill up fast.
