A total of people in B.C. have recovered from COVID-19 while 7,087,736 doses of vaccine have been administered province-wide.

Today’s data was released as a statement to the media.

Island Health

There are 175 identified active cases — 13 in North Island, 70 in Central Island and 92 in South Island — on Vancouver Island, according to the latest information update from Island Health.

It’s worth noting that Island Health’s active case count is 43 cases fewer than the provincial government’s figure of 218 for Vancouver Island.

Meanwhile, according to the latest data from the BCCDC, there is one person in hospital and two people in critical care due to COVID-19.

Previously, the figure had been at one person hospitalized, who was in critical care. CHEK has reached out to the Ministry of Health for clarification regarding today’s data.

Over the past 24 hours, there were 821 COVID-19 tests performed and 4,343 doses of vaccine administered — seven doses of AstraZeneca, 1,237 doses of Moderna and 3,099 doses of Pfizer — on Vancouver Island.

A total of 1,178,891 doses of vaccine — 46 per cent of those are second doses — have been administered on Vancouver Island. This includes 32,667 doses of AstraZeneca, 268,693 doses of Moderna and 859,261 doses of Pfizer.

Although the number of cases continues to climb, there hasn’t been a recorded death from the virus within the Island Health region in at least a month.

Since the pandemic began, there have been 5,484 cases reported, 41 deaths, and 257 total hospitalizations, and 5,221 recoveries recorded on Vancouver Island.
